Virgin Mary Mother of God

This icon depicts the Holy Mother of God holding the Christ Child, rendered in the traditional Byzantine style. The Virgin Mary is shown frontally with a solemn and peaceful expression, emphasizing her role as the Mother of God and protector of the faithful. 

She gently supports Christ with both hands, presenting Him to the world as the source of salvation. The Christ Child is portrayed seated on her lap, raising His right hand in blessing while holding a scroll in His left hand, symbolizing divine wisdom and teaching. 

The halos and sacred inscriptions follow the authentic Byzantine iconographic tradition.

The garments are painted in rich red, blue, and golden tones. The deep red mantle of the Virgin symbolizes sacrifice, royalty, and divine love, while the blue garments represent purity and humanity. 

Christ’s golden garments emphasize His divine glory and eternal kingship.

The background is covered with genuine 24-karat gold leaf, carefully applied by hand. The gold used is real 24K gold. The pigments are specially prepared traditional mixtures, following the methods used in historic iconography.
