Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene

This wood carved triptych icon depicts Saints Raphael of Lesbos, Nicholas of Lesbos, and Irene of Lesbos, shown in the traditional Byzantine style. 

The three saints are presented frontally within a beautifully balanced composition, symbolizing their shared martyrdom, faith, and spiritual unity. At the center stands Saint Raphael, vested as a priest and blessing with his right hand while holding the Holy Gospel, symbolizing his pastoral ministry and devotion to Christ. On the left is Saint Nicholas, portrayed holding a scroll, representing wisdom, faith, and steadfast witness. On the right stands Saint Irene, shown with a martyr’s cross, symbolizing purity, courage, and sacrifice for the Christian faith.

The vivid blue backgrounds and luminous halos emphasize the holiness and heavenly glory of the saints. Their garments are painted in rich red, white, gold, and earth tones, reflecting spiritual dignity, martyrdom, and divine grace. The icon follows the authentic Byzantine iconographic tradition, with harmonious proportions, refined lines, and expressive spiritual character.

The background is covered with genuine 24-karat gold leaf, carefully applied by hand. The gold used is real 24K gold. The pigments are specially prepared traditional mixtures, following the methods used in historic iconography.

These materials make the icon highly durable and resistant, allowing it to be preserved for hundreds of years, as seen in surviving ancient icons. Each icon is authentic and handmade by skilled iconographers. Every stage of the process is completed by hand. The wooden panel is specially selected and carved by an expert woodcarver, ensuring stability and quality.
