Transfiguration of the Savior

This icon depicts the Transfiguration of Jesus in the traditional Byzantine style.

Christ is shown standing at the center in radiant white garments, revealing His divine glory upon Mount Tabor before His disciples. He is enclosed within a luminous blue mandorla, symbolizing the uncreated light of His divinity. His right hand is raised in blessing, while His calm and majestic expression reflects divine authority, peace, and eternal truth.

On either side of Christ stand the prophets Moses and Elijah, representing the Law and the Prophets bearing witness to the divinity of the Savior. Below them, the apostles Peter, James, and John are depicted overwhelmed by the heavenly vision, falling to the ground in awe before the radiant glory of Christ. The composition expresses the revelation of Christ’s divine nature and the promise of spiritual transformation through communion with God.

The icon is painted with vivid traditional colors and refined Byzantine lines that emphasize spiritual illumination and sacred harmony. The background is covered with genuine 24-karat gold leaf, carefully applied by hand. The gold used is real 24K gold. The pigments are specially prepared traditional mixtures, following the methods used in historic iconography. These materials make the icon highly durable and resistant, allowing it to be preserved for hundreds of years, as seen in surviving ancient icons.

Each icon is authentic and handmade by skilled iconographers. Every stage of the process is completed by hand. The wooden panel is specially selected and carved by an expert woodcarver, ensuring stability and quality.
