Prophet Elijah (Elias)

This icon depicts the Prophet Elijah, known in the Orthodox tradition as Prophet Elias, shown in the traditional Byzantine style. The prophet is portrayed seated within a rocky desert cave, reflecting his life of solitude, fasting, and constant prayer. His thoughtful upward gaze symbolizes his spiritual contemplation and unwavering faith in God. The raven above him recalls the biblical account in which God miraculously fed Elijah during his time in the wilderness.

The prophet is dressed in light garments covered with a deep red mantle, symbolizing prophetic zeal, sacrifice, and divine grace. His long beard and ascetic appearance emphasize his role as a righteous prophet and defender of true faith. The mountainous landscape surrounding him reflects the sacred wilderness where many of his revelations and spiritual struggles took place.

The icon follows the authentic Byzantine iconographic tradition with expressive lines, luminous colors, and spiritual symbolism. The background is covered with genuine 24-karat gold leaf, carefully applied by hand. The gold used is real 24K gold. The pigments are specially prepared traditional mixtures, following the methods used in historic iconography. These materials make the icon highly durable and resistant, allowing it to be preserved for hundreds of years, as seen in surviving ancient icons.

Each icon is authentic and handmade by skilled iconographers. Every stage of the process is completed by hand. The wooden panel is specially selected and carved by an expert woodcarver, ensuring stability and quality.
