Jesus Christ

This icon depicts the face of Jesus Christ in the traditional Byzantine style, inspired by the sacred iconography of the Holy Mandylion and Christ Pantocrator. 

Christ is presented frontally with a calm and solemn expression, symbolizing His divine wisdom, mercy, and eternal presence. The intense gaze and balanced features reflect both His humanity and His divine authority.

Behind His head appears the traditional cruciform halo bearing the sacred Greek inscription “Ο ΩΝ” (“He Who Is”), affirming Christ as the eternal God. The icon focuses entirely on the holy face of the Savior, emphasizing spiritual contemplation, prayer, and the direct relationship between the believer and Christ. The simplicity of the composition strengthens the spiritual power and timeless beauty of the image.

The background is covered with genuine 24-karat gold leaf, carefully applied by hand. The gold used is real 24K gold. The pigments are specially prepared traditional mixtures, following the methods used in historic iconography. These materials make the icon highly durable and resistant, allowing it to be preserved for hundreds of years, as seen in surviving ancient icons.
