Virgin Mary the Quick to Hear

This hand-crafted icon depicts Virgin Mary, the Quick to Hear, holding the Christ Child in the traditional Byzantine style. In Orthodox tradition, the title “Quick to Hear” refers to the belief that the Panagia swiftly listens to and answers the prayers of the faithful. 

 The Virgin Mary is portrayed with a gentle and solemn expression, symbolizing purity, compassion, and maternal protection. Her hand is directed toward the Christ Child, presenting Him as the source of salvation and eternal life. 

The Christ Child is shown seated in her arms, blessing with one hand while holding a scroll, symbolizing divine wisdom and His Gospel message. Both figures wear royal crowns, emphasizing their heavenly glory and sacred kingship.

The halos bear the traditional sacred inscriptions and Christogram, affirming the divine identity of Christ and the holiness of the Mother of God. The garments are painted in rich red, gold, and blue tones, symbolizing sacrifice, divine grace, purity, and heavenly majesty.
