Virgin Mary Mother of God

This icon depicts Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child in the traditional Byzantine style, expressing the tender relationship between the Mother of God and Jesus Christ.

The inscriptions “MP ΘY” identify the Virgin Mary as the “Mother of God,” while the Christogram “IC XC” affirms the divine identity of the Child Jesus. The background is covered with genuine 24-karat gold leaf, carefully applied by hand. The gold used is real 24K gold.
