The Most Immaculate Virgin Mary (Theotokos Panachranta)
This icon depicts the Virgin Mary Panahrantos (All-Immaculate), rendered in the traditional Byzantine style. The Theotokos is shown holding the Christ Child in her left arm, while her right hand is gently extended in a gesture of offering, directing the viewer toward Him as the source of salvation. Her tender yet solemn expression conveys purity, humility, and deep spiritual grace. The Christ Child is portrayed with a serene and wise demeanor, blessing with His right hand and holding a scroll in His left, symbolizing divine wisdom. Both halos bear traditional inscriptions, affirming their sacred and divine identities.
The garments of the Virgin are painted in deep red tones symbolizing her purity and royal dignity, while the garments of Christ are rendered in luminous gold and soft hues, reflecting His divine nature. The harmonious composition and refined details highlight the sacred relationship between Mother and Child.
The background is covered with genuine 24-karat gold leaf, carefully applied by hand. The gold used is real 24K gold. The pigments are specially prepared traditional mixtures, following the methods used in historic iconography. These materials ensure exceptional durability and resistance over time, allowing the icon to be preserved for generations, as seen in ancient icons that have endured through centuries.
