Saint Marina

Saint Marina

This handcrafted icon depicts Saint Marina, one of the most beloved female martyrs of the Orthodox Christian tradition, shown in the traditional Byzantine style. Saint Marina is presented frontally with a serene and steadfast expression, symbolizing purity, courage, unwavering faith, and spiritual victory through martyrdom.

The saint holds a delicate martyr’s cross in her right hand, representing her sacrifice and faithful witness to Christ. Her raised left hand conveys prayer, blessing, and spiritual strength. The radiant halo surrounding her head signifies her holiness and eternal glory among the saints of the Church.

Saint Marina’s garments are painted in vivid red and deep blue tones, symbolizing martyrdom, divine grace, purity, and heavenly wisdom. The flowing folds of her robe and the simplicity of the composition follow the authentic Byzantine iconographic tradition, emphasizing spiritual beauty rather than earthly realism.

The background is covered with genuine 24-karat gold leaf, carefully applied by hand. The gold used is real 24K gold. The pigments are specially prepared traditional mixtures, following the methods used in historic Byzantine iconography. These traditional materials provide exceptional brilliance, richness, and durability, ensuring the icon remains vibrant and preserved for generations.

Each icon is authentic and handmade by skilled iconographers. Every stage of the process is completed entirely by hand, according to the sacred artistic traditions preserved in Orthodox Christian iconography for centuries. The wooden panel is specially selected and carved by an expert woodcarver, ensuring stability, durability, and exceptional craftsmanship.

These authentic materials and traditional techniques make the icon highly durable and resistant, allowing it to endure for hundreds of years, as demonstrated by surviving Byzantine icons throughout history. This sacred handcrafted icon is both a devotional treasure and a timeless work of Christian sacred art, ideal for prayer, blessing, and spiritual inspiration.
